We are making tremendous progress with the garden now. We must say a great big thank you to all the people who are helping us including parents, their friends, contractors and various building and landscape suppliers.
All through the summer work has been going on at quite a pace. Paths have been laid, raised flower beds constructed, the lavender maize marked out and the areas for grass prepared. Decking has been installed in front of the newly built bicycle store and the ground prepared for the sensory water feature. Take a look in the gallery and see the progress for yourself.
Planting started on September 30th when pupils from across the whole school put on their gardening gloves, grabbed their trowels and helped to position the plants in their final resting places. One or two found their way in and out of the soil several times until everyone understood the concept of planting and leaving the plants in one place to grow! It was a fantastic day and we were overwhelmed by the incredible support we had from parents, carers, friends, local residents, voluntary workers and of course pupils and staff. Hundreds of plants and grasses were installed in the garden. We now have raised beds with a range of colours, textures and scents -all making different sounds when the wind blows.
The next stage is to install the water feature and the lavender maze. Keep you eye on the website for updates.
