C.O.P.S (Council of Portsmouth students)

Wednesday, October 11th 2006

Council of Portsmouth students (C.O.P.S) is a group of students from each secondary school that meet up once or twice a term. It is a great opportunity for students from special schools (as well as mainstream schools) but as specially students from the Mary Rose School, to be involved in making decisions that influence either them or their school. My job along with Amy Tucker as a representative of the school is to report back after each meeting to ALL of the students using paper minutes and DVD minutes from the meeting before. And then once we get the minutes for the meeting which would have happened just days before we would report back on that meeting as well. I really enjoy been part on the C.O.P.S group because to me it is such a huge responsibility to get back to the school on what happened and to also make my voice heard in issues that not only concern me but concern other schools as well as our school too, and I hope that once I have left for college that Mary Rose school continues to advance in Student Voice and keeps making their voice is heard. One of the biggest things on a whole just to sum it up in a sentence is that

EVERY student and child HAS a voice so we all need to ALL listen and make sure it’s heard!!!

Cops is about issues in Portsmouth for children.   So we go to cops to talk about   different issues.  For example food, and   health.   We played games as an ice breaker.
Some times we split in to groups. We split into groups.
