On Friday February 9th, Mary Rose School pupils packed their new school bags with all their school things and one special thing of their choice from their old school classrooms.
It was a day of excitement and celebration, a day of endings and beginnings and the final stage of our transformation into Mary Rose School.
During the day the classes organised class parties, shared breakfasts and had fun choosing that one special thing that they could take with them – and of course this treasure did have to fit into their bag! In the afternoon we had assemblies when we said goodbye to some of our staff and to our old worn out buildings and hello to our new school building and our new class groups. On one site the classes all brought something into assembly to show everyone what they were taking with them – this ranged from taking members of staff to a football signed by the German football team. In one instance a class brought along their favourite sensory activity – exploring textures with your hands and mouth. If you look closely you will see a photograph of Alison feeling and tasting a lovely mixture of jelly, soft fruits and melted marshmallow! How brave!
At the end of the day we all marched off singing “One more step along the world I go”….. see you all in our new school on February 26th.
