Monday, February 19th 2007 - Michael Powell, Goodwood Class
Before I start, just a comment from some of the event staff there this past Saturday, apparently we were the noisiest group there - whether that is true or not I don’t know, but we were excellent supporters!
This past Saturday the 10th of February Mary Rose School entered its inaugural special Olympics event held at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. Below is a synopsis of our performance in the events:

William Palmer & Bradley Ryder put up a great fight in this race narrowly losing out to their opponents

Michael Powell gave what was described as a “passable” performance in the javelin throwing 7 meters
Event: 2 Lap Race (1st of 2)
Ian and Nathan gave it their best shot in this race again narrowly losing out to their opponents
Event: 2 Lap Race
Lois & Jamie put up a very good effort and great performance, coming second

Lois Growse, Chantelle Lockyer, Nathan Harper, Nick Cope, Ian Allen all rounded off the performance in spectacular fashion coming 2nd
This was a first for Mary Rose School and now we’ve been along once and fully understand how the event is organised we can make sure we get into training early on and improve on our performance next time. Well done everyone, it was a great day.
