Springfield School Design Technology Project

Tuesday, April 3rd 2007

Year 9 pupils from Springfield School took part in a project which required them to make a game that would make one of our school books more accessible for our pupils.

The project started with Alison, our headteacher making a presentation to the pupils in a Springfield School assembly – describing the kinds of difficulties that pupils at Mary Rose School face when it comes to reading. She also talked about the ways that children learn and the need to ensure that the game was stimulating and appealed to all the senses.

A senior teacher at Mary Rose School judged the results and the winning group and the runners up brought their games over to us to try out with our pupils and present to the school. The games they brought were really good and well thought through and as you can see from the photographs the pupils really enjoyed them – in fact so much so that they had to be persuaded to stop for their lunch!

We look forward to developing further links with Springfield and thank all the Year 9 pupils for the superb games they made for us.
