24 members of staff from the Mary Rose School donned their cycle helmets and took to their bikes on the 14th September in the New Forest. “Why” you may ask! All for a good cause, to raise money for the New Mary Rose Mini Bus and to support the Orchid Cancer Appeal.
The team ‘Mary Rose Wheelers’ was made up from staff across the school and they were all proudly wearing their Mary Rose School T-shirts, sponsored by Portsmouth Football Club and their waterproofs which had been donated by The Royal Navy. Fortunately the weather was with us and we were more in need of sun tan lotion than our waterproof jackets!
The ‘Wheelers’ left Brockenhurst College with smiles on their faces and were excited by the challenge of completing either an 18, 28 or 48 mile course. As you can see from the photo’s, staff were elated and very proud when they reached the Finish Line a few hours later, with just a few tired legs and sore bottoms between them!
It is now time to collect in the Sponsorship money and start looking for the next challenge!
