Beach Watch

Sunday, September 21st 2008

In our first full week back from the summer break we thought about our beaches and ways that we can help to keep them clean. We had a whole school assembly when we looked at, felt and smelt lots and lots of things that had been found on the local beaches. Take a look at the photographs and you’ll see that many of the items were basically litter and rubbish, many of which could hurt animals and sea creatures as well as look awful.

Once we had thought about these problems and suggested ways to keep our beaches clean we looked at the different ways that artists have used beach litter to create art – both pictures and sculptures. The whole school then set about creating our own works of art – which look really cool. Take a look at the photographs and see what you think.

We printed off lots of the photographs to make our own Mary Rose School piece of Beach Art which is being displayed in school.
