Art in Action

Sunday, October 5th 2008

As part of our creative arts and multi cultural work we suspended to school timetable for 3 days in September so that we could learn about African Art and try out a range of exciting techniques.

This was a fantastic project and the whole school hummed to the sound of African music and African drumming. Pupils painted with their hands, feet and noses! They dyed fabrics, wove threads, printed, painted, danced and sang. They learnt about different aspects of African culture, tasted foods, and looked at colours, houses and lots, lots more…

On the Friday in assembly we all brought the results of our week along and shared them with each other, celebrating the fantastic things we had achieved. Our Art work is being displayed around the whole school for all our visitors to see, and some of it was presented to our visitors from New Horizon School in Ghana who visited us on Monday September 29th.
