Well, didn’t we have a lovely time the week we went to Butlins!
A group of 17 students and 11 staff visited Butlins in the week before half term. This was a first for Mary Rose School and so we were not sure what to expect!
The weather was kind, apart from when we were unpacking the buses, and we had a fantastic week exploring Bognor Regis and the surrounding area as well as enjoying the entertainment and activities provided by Butlins. The Chalets were lovely, they all had a small kitchen and living room and two bedrooms. Butlins has a fun fair, amusements, swimming pool complete with water slides as well as mini golf, stage shows, shops and restaurants.
We spent our first day travelling and stopped for a nice lunch at the Wild Life café and a big Garden centre. We soon settled into our Chalets at Butlins and were straight off to sample the nightlife. We were treated to the ‘Best of British’ tribute bands and then a disco.
On Tuesday we went swimming in the Splash Waterworld, Ten Pin Bowling and some went for a stroll along the prom, prom, prom. The evening entertainment was a talent show and of course more dancing!
Wednesday was an exploring day. We went to the Weald and Downland or into Bognor to visit the pier and Hotham Park. After all that walking around we had to sit down for a nice lunch in the pub and then returned to Butlins for evening ents. Tonight we had a choice of Wrestling or a Pantomime followed by Line Dancing! Choices, choices …
Thursday was another day for exploring. Two groups went to the Weald and Downland museum whilst the other group headed into Littlehampton. We fed ducks, watched fishing boats in the marina and tried to stay warm! Tonights entertainment bill included ‘The big Red’, a talent show for Red Coats based on Big Brother. A few tired feet tonight but that didn’t stop us hitting the dance floor!
We were sad to leave on Friday but so tired we were glad to get home!
