A Letter From Debbie Jordan

Tuesday, January 17th 2012
Dear Friends, Parents and Carers, Happy New Year to you all. Firstly, thank you to everyone who was able to support our first Mary Rose Christmas Fair. There were a variety of stalls selling seasonal items, many of which were made by the pupils. Some pupils met Santa and had their photo taken with him, and we were also able to greet the motorcyclists when they arrived with their presents and money for the school. The Fair also made a profit of £306 – 46. Here are a few dates of...

We Can Do Anything! - Sponsored Bike Ride 2010

Monday, September 20th 2010
Well the staff can definitely do anything they set their minds to!  For the third year running, ‘Team Mary Rose’ donned their cycle helmets and took to their bikes on the 19th September in the New Forest, which was amazing as term only started just under two weeks ago and they also had had their Ofsted inspection on the Thursday and Friday before!  As usual it was all for a good cause, to raise money for Mary Rose School projects and to support the Orchid Cancer Appeal. ...

Tuesday, July 20th 2010
As the very helpful, but slightly mad, staff met at St James Hospital field at 7am the Heaven’s decided to open for the first time since Easter and the rain came down!  Not to be put off, the decision was made to put up all the (19) gazebos, set out the tea and coffee and place all the equipment on the field in the hope that it was only a shower and would clear up soon.  Sure enough it did and the sun came out just as the pupils left school – delayed only slightly by an impromptu fire...

Healthy Living Days - May 2010

Wednesday, June 23rd 2010
An idea from a parent governor about how we could support parents to provide more healthy packed lunches resulted in the whole school focusing on ‘Healthy Living’ for three days. The days focused on increasing the awareness of pupils about the different ways in which they can be more healthy, not just focusing on eating the right things and exercising but the other aspects of health such as social well being and mental well being. We also included parents and carers, inviting them to take part...

GLOBALROCK CHALLENGE 2010

Wednesday, May 19th 2010
To plan this event a group of senior students discussed the subject of super heroes and decided they would like to show the powers of good and evil in our performance. The title “Out of the Darkness and into the Light” was given to our production and the students enjoyed two dance workshop days with the Corali Dance company. Weekly rehearsals started in January and students practised their dance movements to music that had been chosen. Costumes were planned and created to show the good and...
