KS4 Reward Scheme

Pupils in Key Stage 4 operate a Rewards Bank System which is designed to motivate pupils and recognise and celebrate achievement. Each pupil has a reward card which has up to 30 spaces to be filled. These spaces are filled in by a member of staff, who writes in the pupil’s particular achievement. Pupils are rewarded when they have shown an exceptional achievement. This is not wholly confined to work, but to all areas of school life.

Once a pupil has achieved 10 rewards, they can choose to exchange these for a ‘prize’ from the Key Stage 4 Reward Cabinet. The display cabinet houses a variety of small ‘prizes’ which have been given a ‘Rose value’ of 10, 20 or 30 Roses. Students can exchange their rewards at any point, choosing to exchange them for a prize worth 10, 20 or 30 roses.

Pupils are encouraged to work together. Once a pupil has reached 10 rewards, s/he earns a ‘rose’ for the class. When the class has reached 30 roses, they are rewarded with an outing which is paid for by school. This is helping to build a sense of team work, encouraging pupils to work towards a common goal.
