Welcome to Mary Rose School Specialist Sports College!
Mary Rose School was designated as a Specialist Sports College in September 2008. This has been a huge accolade for the school as we only opened our doors in September 2006 and moved to our new site in February 2007. At Mary Rose School we believe that ‘We Can do Anything!’ and we continue to prove it.
Since September we have hit the ground running! Our PE team and students have been working with our sister Sports College – Priory School and the SSCo programme to provide primary pupils in the city with the opportunity to try out Paralympic activities. Two of our students have become Young Ambassadors – Part of the Youth Sport Trust Programme and we have celebrated our official opening – a very special occasion when all of our pupils had the opportunity to take part in master classes within different sports.
As a Specialist School we receive a capital grant and we have used most of this to develop an exciting learning environment within the school known as ‘The Studio’! Already our students are using it to participate in Dance, Touch Therapy and Sherborne Developmental Movement, all of which form integral elements of the Sports College Plan and our whole school learning and teaching plan.
Pupils, staff and stake holders are exceptionally proud of the work that has gone in to achieving Sports College Status and the opportunities that it will bring.
I hope you enjoy visiting the Sports College area of the school website and that it enables you to keep up to date with all the creative, innovative and inspirational activities that we like to be involved in.
