At Mary Rose School we try to involve our students in as many extra opportunities outside the formal curriculum as possible. This does include a number of sporting events.
National & Regional Events
National Boccia Championships – This year two of our KS5 students have been asked to represent the South East Region at the National Boccia Championships held in Sheffield during November.
South East Regional Boccia Championships – These will be taking place at Farnborough Leisure Centre on the 31st January and 1st February 09. This is an opportunity for our students to be selected for the National Boccia Championships.
Rock Challenge – This is a National dance competition. Almost all of our students from Key Stage 4 and 6th Form are involved. This year's theme was 'We can and we do': a celebration of our newly achieved specialist sports college status. Go to the news section to see some pictures and read more.
Special Olympics – This is a yearly event which takes place on a Saturday at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. This year we entered a team of 12 pupils from both the senior and primary departments. Our pupils took part in a number of events such as Shot Putt.
Hampshire Parallel Games - The Hampshire Parallel Games aims to provide competitive sporting opportunities for young people in special schools and units. The games also aim to increase the profile of disability sport and provide a positive experience for all the volunteers and coaches who support on the day. We take part in many of the activities including the Boccia, New Age Kurling and Athletics.
Local Events
Cedars Football Match – On an annual basis our students and the students at Cedars School in Southampton take part in a Pan Football Match. This is Match is set up and Sponsored by the Rotarians.
