We almost lifted the roof of our school hall in our Harvest Celebration this time. Our theme was based around New Horizon School in Ghana – celebrating our partnership and friendship and raising awareness of the very different and often difficult lives they lead.
We were joined by lots of our parents and friends and we sang, played African Drums and prayed together. We learnt that at New Hprizon School they only have 1 printer that doesn’t always work. We found out that they have no CD player, that they make there special seats and supports from cardboard and that they rely solely on donations to keep the school open. They do not receive any government funds at all.
Each of our classes prepared a box of items to present at assembly. These included colouring pencils, paper, toys, sports kit, paints etc.. They were received by our pupil governors and our parent governors who were delighted by the generosity of everyone involved. The gifts will be shipped over to New Horizon School next month and so in the meantime if anyone has any more items to send in these will be gratefully received.
New Horizon School have sent photographs to show how they are using the gifts we sent last year….
