Clubs And Teams

After school clubs are offered to all pupils in Key stage 1-5 at Mary Rose School. Pupils are given a range of clubs to choose from every term and several of these are sports based. Clubs currently running in PE and Sport are:

Tuesday - PE with Vicky, Bronwin, Clare and Christine. This club offers pupils a variety of sports every week including Football, New Age Kurling, Boccia, Basketball and Cricket.

Wednesday – Trampolining with Tracey C, Annie, Ashley, Angie and Tracy J. This club offers pupils the opportunity to do trampolining and to achieve award certificates from British Gymnastics.

Wednesday – Swimming with Michelle, Louise, Rosie and Sherry. This club offers our Primary pupils the opportunity to use the pool and all of it’s gizmos after school to improve their swimming skills and have a wonderful sensory experience.

Thursday – Swimming with Sue, Natalie and Christine. This club gives secondary pupils the opportunity to practice their swimming technique in a small group in a fun setting.

Thursday – Dance with Yvonne, Sherry and Jackie. This club gives pupils the opportunity to try different kinds of dancing from disco to ballet!

We have a very successful Football team that plays in an annual fixture against the Cedars school in Southampton. This is a very social occasion with a bar-b-que following the usually very hard fought game every year. In 2007 we will be trying to win back the trophy after losing it for the very first time last year.

This year for the first time we are hoping to field a New Age Kurling and Boccia team in a local festival which we are hosting at Mary Rose School for local schools as part of the Portsmouth School Sport Partnership.
